CINPA - March 4, 2026 - Online Authentication- Corzine and Hicks

Subject: CINPA – March 4, 2026 Meeting: Online Authentication Panel Discussion

REGSITER - here

Our March 4, 2026 meeting will focus on a timely and practical topic: online authentication — password management, multi-factor authentication (MFA), passkeys, and related best practices.

Rather than a formal slide presentation, this session will be a conversational panel discussion designed to stimulate practical discussion and shared experiences. We are aiming for approximately 30–40 minutes including Q&A.

What We’ll Cover

Password managers (business vs. personal use)
MFA options and trade-offs
Passphrases vs. traditional passwords
Passkeys — what they are and whether they’re ready
SSO and where authentication is heading
Common mistakes and user education

Panelists

Scott Corzine
Scott will frame the discussion around the idea that authentication is the first step of security — and that too many of us are still relying on simple passwords. He’ll share perspective on password managers, MFA, passphrases, passkeys, and SSO, and how these tools can improve security while sometimes making life easier.
Scott Corzine is a Cloud/Infrastructure Architect/Engineer who has integrated IT security throughout his career.

Damen Hicks
Damen brings a practical, user-centered perspective. While IAM is not his day job, he is passionate about privacy and security, has implemented password managers personally and with his family, and will help explore MFA approaches and trade-offs from a real-world standpoint.

This session should be valuable whether you’re advising clients, managing internal systems, or simply trying to improve your own security posture.
